Home Made Yogurt

Home made yogurt is easier than I thought,
All you need is milk, quality yogurt and a pot.

Ingredients:
Half gallon of milk, I used whole
2/3 cup of quality yogurt

Pour milk in crock pot and cook on low for about 2.5 hours. The milk should be about 115°.

Take about a cup of the milk out and mix in 2/3 cup of yogurt. This will be your starter. Once mixed, put back in the crock put and stir. Turn crock pot off and wrap in a couple of towels to hold in the warmth.

Leave it for 3 hours, undisturbed.

Remove towels and lid. The mixture should be thick and a little watery. Transfer to containers and place in the fridge. Leave it for at least 24 hours.

I saved 2/3 cup in a separate container to use as a starter for the next batch. total cost for about a half gallon of yogurt was about $2. I got the milk on sale for $1 at Kroger. I made plain because we use it in place of sour cream and the boys like it. If you want to flavor it you can add that when you mix in the yogurt.
