The only reason I’m excited about winter coming is our plan for the chickens. This year, we are letting them do all the work in the kitchen garden.
The plan is to pull them up to the kitchen garden right before the first hard frost so they can start scratchin’ and poopin’ all over the kitchen garden, preparing it for Garden 2015.
Our soil will be in prime condition for planting the 2015 veggie garden as the poultry poo will have time to properly compost.
That’s right girls. We are putting you to work this winter. We’ll pay you in kitchen scraps and you’ll get plenty of seeds, roots and tomatoes from the garden.
