My two sons are always getting candy, candy and more candy from their grandparents. Valentines day was no exception. They got a big bag of strawberry flavored marshmallows from Grandma LuLu…pure sugar.
I was talking with my friend about these marshmallows and my resolve to put a stop to the candy buying insanity and she suggested that I make rice krispy treats with them. Pure genius!
As I was making them I ran across half a bag of white chocolate chips and thought…YUM. Voila, Strawberry White Chocolate Krispy Treats that taste just like strawberry shortcake. Mmmm….
RECIPE
- 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 1 package (8oz) strawberry flavored marshmallows
- 5 cups crisp rice cereal
- As many white chocolate chips as you dare. I used a cup.
In microwave-safe bowl heat butter and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth. Stir in crisp rice and white chocolate chips. Spread in a greased 9×13 pan and let set.
